Time-of-Flight ranging sensors
For accurate and timely stock management in warehouses
ST-patented FlightSense sensors directly measure distance to the object based on the time for emitted photons to be reflected, enabling accurate distance ranging regardless of the object’s surface characteristics. They are packaged in “all-in-one” miniature module which contain the laser driver and emitter as well as the Single Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) light receiver that gives ST’s sensors their unrivaled ranging speed and reliability.
Wireless content monitoring in industrial warehouses can be enabled using ST’s BlueNRG-Tile featuring a VL53L1X Time-Of-Flight laser ranging sensor and implementing Bluetooth LE connectivity. The Time-Of-Flight sensor permanently monitors the occupancy level of each shelf rail, allowing retail managers to avoid empty shelves. The VL53L1X reports the exact distance between the pusher system and the background, regardless the object size and color.
